Natural IZU beach stones are used as his canvas. The brilliant coloring is very original and impressive. The natural shape of the stones are not altered. An ordinary beach stone appears at its best with his imaginative work. The Izu area is famous for traditional handmade Japanese papers. Delicate Japanese papers are dyed with vegetables and formed to a variety of masks. These humorous happy faces bring a smile to everyone's face.

  SUTOU NINGYO (Earthenware dolls)
By Kohaku Kamio
  IZU TSUCHI NO UTSUWA
(Earthenwares) By Jakuryu Amano

These heartwarming dolls are based on old Japanese folktales. We made a special request for Mr. Kamio to create characters from the story "Foxes in the burrow", which has been handed down to HOKKAWA people for a generations. All the materials are collected from the mountains in Izu. The shapes of his work are primitive but modern. The delicate combination of color will bring to you a spiritual peace.
